SALVAGE TRANSURETHRAL LASER SURGERY WITH THULIUM LASER: A PROMISING APPROACH IN ADVANCED BLADDER CANCER WITH PARANEOPLASTIC SYNDROME AND SEVERE THROMBOCYTOPENIA, Zlatka Cholakova, Nikolay Mirinchev

Abstract: The study focused on evaluating the effectiveness and safety of thulium laser
salvage transurethral laser surgery in patients with advanced bladder carcinoma. The
application of this technique is indicated in cases of serious complications, such as
paraneoplastic syndrome, severe thrombocytopenia and hemotamponade. The study included
clinical case analysis and literature review, finding that the majority of patients achieved
stage-acceptable tumor resection, as well as an uneventful postoperative period, with minimal
complications. The technique offers significant advantages in terms of hemostasis and
resection, representing an alternative for patients for whom traditional surgery is not
suitable.
Key words: thulium laser, advanced bladder cancer, salvage surgery, hemostasis,
