DIAGNOSTIC ENDOSCOPY IN OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY, Proletina Borisova Bozdukova

Abstract: The publication aims to acquaint medical professionals with modern endoscopic
diagnostic methods in otorhinolaryngology. In this field, all known types of endoscopic
systems are used - rigid and flexible. They allow very good visualization during examination,
possibility for video recording and biopsy. The extraction of foreign bodies from the upper
respiratory tract and esophagus is performed mostly endoscopically. Through functional
endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) can be performed resection of tumors from the surrounding
nasal cavities, which include the anterior and middle cranial fossa. In addition,
dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) is now performed mainly through an endonasal approach.
Sialoendoscopy is a method that allows a direct view of the ducts of the large salivary glands
with the possibility of various therapeutic manipulations. Endoscopic otoscopy is a modern
alternative for visualization of the structures of the middle ear and tympanic membrane.
