GRASP AND GAIT REHABILITATION – KEY ELEMENT FOR THE AUTONOMY OF PATIENTS IN ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING, Ivet B. Koleva, Borislav R. Yoshinov, Radoslav R. Yoshinov

Abstract: Authors present grasp and gait recovery as key elements for patients’ autonomy in
everyday life [1]. We present definitions, phases of the normal grasp, grip, balance and gait;
kinesiological analysis of principal types of grasp and gait, principal periods of the grasp and
gait rehabilitation in most frequent conditions of the nervous system and motor system in the
everyday clinical practice of rehabilitation [2]. We discuss elements of the rehabilitation
algorithm for functional recovery of the grasp and gait – active and passive kinesiotherapy,
occupational therapy and activities, electrostimulations, deep oscillation, pain management. We
emphasize on potential of contemporaneous methods – robotic rehabilitation, exoskeletons,
virtual reality, Locomat [2,3].We present our own results and interesting cases of the clinical
practice.
