Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has faced many challenges in various areas of social life.
Education was limited with restrictions that were imposed to prevent the spread of the virus
and proved to be one of the most sensitive areas.
Modern technologies and learning platforms have offered opportunities to support the
learning process and maintain its normal pace. Practical lessons are extremely important for
making sense of theoretical knowledge, and their application in an electronic environment is a
new approach and allows them to take place in a pandemic. The purpose of this article is to
present the implementation of a practical lesson in the discipline "Maritime Healthcare,
Medical Care of Marine Facilities and Coastal Zones" for students from specialty "Health
Management and Medical and Social Care" at the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev
Stoyanov" - Varna. This non-standard form of practical lesson was conducted through a virtual
classroom. It provided an opportunity for students to meet with specialists in Maritime
Healthcare, who presented their work activities and technical equipment used in their
professional sphere. The tasks that are considered are: sequence of the lesson and difficulties
in its implementation, description of the students' opinion through a survey and analysis of the
effectiveness of the practical lesson by studying the results of the survey.
The positive attitude of students to this type of lessons emphasizes their high value as an
integral part of the learning process. Such realizations can be further developed in various
disciplines and specialties.
