ABSTRACT: Modern notions define oncological neoplasms as socially significant, multistage diseases with a complex multifactorial nature. Advances in modern science have changed the profile of oncological diseases from life-threatening to chronic diseases. The complex approach to treatment in oncology presupposes special knowledge and skills of nurses to provide health care to people with cancer at home to maintain and improve their quality of life during each stage of their treatment. Aim of the research: To study the need for specialized nursing care at home during the complex treatment of people with cancer. Materials and methods of research: Documentary; Sociological - anonymous surveys on the need for home nursing care for people with cancer; Statistical - the data are processed and presented graphically. Results: 50.83% of the surveyed patients strongly emphasize the need for nursing care between hospitalizations; 31.67% of the respondents are of the opinion that the nursing intervention will alleviate and help their relatives as well. The results of the survey among nurses show that 84.8% of respondents confirmed the need for nursing health and social care in the home of consumers. Conclusions: There is a shortage of health care and services for people with cancer at home; There is a need to create practices for health and social care at home to ensure quality of life for cancer patients and their families; The provision of health care in nursing practices is the realization of the autonomy of the nursing profession and an opportunity for professional development.
